227 new virus cases

There were 227 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases – 125 females and 102 males – recorded on Tuesday, December 28, from the 1 409 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

Of these, 38 people were under the age of 18, while 189 were 18 years and older.

The number of people in isolation facilities was 112, while 843 were in home isolation.

As at December 28, there were 260 deaths from the virus.

The public health laboratory has carried out 467 711 tests since February last year, and recorded 28 063 cases (13 339 males and 14 724 females) of COVID-19.

Under the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, the total number of people with at least one dose is 155 614 (68.1 per cent of the eligible population).

The total number of people who are fully vaccinated is 143 062 (52.8 per cent of the total population or 62.6 per cent of the eligible population).

The eligible population represents people who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
