Metal houses taking shape

Date:

The controversial Chinese metal houses are going up.

On Tuesday, some National Housing Corporation workmen were spotted at Scotts Gap, near Brittons Hill, St Michael securing the metal frames of one of the prefabricated structures of East West Building Solutions to the foundation.

It was one of 150 imported from China last year after many householders were displaced due to Hurricane Elsa in July.

Many have questioned whether the houses meet local building code requirements, but Minister of Housing Dr William Duguid has defended the move.

Efforts to reach him on Tuesday were unsuccessful. (TG)
