Barbadian driver Zane Maloney departs for Bahrain today to officially begin his 2022 Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) Formula 3 Championship season with Trident Motorsport.

The 18-year-old announced his partnership with the Italian team in January and will be joining his teammates, Czech Republic’s Roman Stanek and British driver Jonny Edgar in the coming days.

Maloney impressed the team on his way to a fourth-place finish in last year’s Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA).

He will face familiar competition from the likes of last season’s FRECA champion Gregoire Saucy. The 22-yearold Swiss driver will again represent French motoring team, ART Grand Prix. (NM)
