COVID-19 update for March 2

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory identified 162 new COVID-19 cases (77 males and 85 females) from the 1 005 tests conducted on Wednesday, March 2.

The cases comprised 29 people under the age of 18 and 133 who were 18 years and older.

There were 59 people in isolation facilities and 1 686 in home isolation.

As at March 2, there were 316 deaths from the viral illness.

The public health laboratory carried out 588 782 tests since February 2020, and recorded 55 705 COVID-19 cases (25 865 males and 29 840 females).

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of people with at least one dose is 160 288 (70.2 per cent of the eligible population). The total number of fully vaccinated people is 149 692 (55.2 per cent of the total population or 65.5 per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older.
