Augustin joins CARIFTA qualifiers

Barbados now has 11 CARIFTA Games qualifiers.

Combermere’s Shelanie Augustin captured gold in the Under-17 Girls shot put at the Powerade-Dasani Barbados Secondary Schools Athletics Championship (BSSAC) this morning to book her ticket to the region’s most prestigious junior track and field event in Kingston, Jamaica from April 16-18.

The 15-year-old who hails from Content, St Thomas and represented the Jennifer & Anthony Jones Zone, made the qualifying requirement on her fourth and sixth attempts.

Her measurements are 13.07 and 13.37 metres while the standard is 13.00 metres. (AGB)
