It was a return to the streets for some Christians who usually marked Good Friday by mapping out the final journal of Jesus Christ before he was crucified.
Yesterday both the Roman Catholics and the Spiritual Baptists returned to the city streets to re-enact the death of Jesus Christ.
Members of the Roman Catholic Church, led by Bishop Neil Scantlebury, marked the holy day by participating in Stations of the Cross – a series of events reliving the crucifixion.
Owing to COVID-19 restrictions, the Stations were held in various churches in 2020 and 2021 but not even rain yesterday morning could prevent Catholics from walking through the City.
The 14 Stations started 6 a.m. at St Patrick’s Cathedral on Jemmotts Lane and proceeded into Bridgetown before finishing at the Cathedral.
Meanwhile several members, both young and old, of the Sons of God Spiritual Baptist Church took to the other side of the city, Baxters Road for their tradition of the Stations of the Cross. (MB/HG)
