The Barbados Labour Party (BLP) is preparing to rub shoulders again.

The initiative, which saw party members visiting communities and speaking directly to people, began during its previous administration but was not continued in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Yesterday during the BLP’s 84th anniversary Founders’ Day Service at St George Parish Church, The Glebe, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley said it was time for the Bees to hit the road again.

“We do not walk in a straight line but that must never deter us from forging ahead. We started a programme before we became Government and in a very real way COVID has disrupted so much, but we are recommitting to it from this week. That is the programme called Rubbing Shoulders.

“It is true elections just done but we have new members and we want them to be raised in a way they must continue in their careers and not simply learn about it. Those new members . . . must remember that in all we do, we rub shoulders because we have come to see, feel, hear and understand what the people endure and what people celebrate on a day-to-day basis,” she said.
