The elderly in Barbados should still wear masks.

That advice is being given to Barbados’ ageing population and anyone currently dealing with non-communicable diseases (NCDs) as the country continues to battle a fourth wave of the COVID-19 virus.

It comes 24 hours after Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley revealed the country would be amending its mask-wearing mandate in public spaces, and also allowing fully vaccinated travellers entering Barbados to arrive without negative PCR test results from Wednesday.

Noted family physician Dr Adrian Lorde and endocrinologist Dr Carlisle Goddard both told the Daily Nation the wearing of masks requires individuals to act responsibly, but advised older citizens to keep their guard up despite the new provisions. (BA)
