Knight’s 60 not enough

A purposeful half-century from captain Kycia Knight failed to inspire Barbados Women and ease concerns about their batting, and Trinidad and Tobago Women took an unbeatable 2-0 lead in their Twenty20 series with a seven-wicket win on Sunday.

With West Indies Women’s pace bowling duo of Alleyne and Shakera Selman in their line-up, the Barbadians may have hoped to make inroads into the visitors’ batting, but the top order were solid and successfully chased 129 in the second T20 between the sides at KMV Oval in Lakes, St Andrew.

Krisanne Howell took two for 18 from three overs for the Barbadians, but T&T Women got a 52-run opening stand from captain Reniece Boyce and Rachel Vincent.

Boyce made 27 and Vincent added 27, but unlike the hosts, the visitors’ batting was propped up by Shenelle Lord, whose 33 not out was the top score, and former Windies Women’s all-rounder Lee-Arnn Kirby, who made 26 not out.

The final T20 of the three-match series will be played tomorrow at the Police Sports Complex in Weymouth, St Michael. (AR)
