178 new virus cases

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory identified 178 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, 66 males and 112 females, from the 826 tests conducted on Tuesday, June 7.

Of the positive cases, 47 people were under the age of 18, and 131 were 18 years and older.

There were 40 people in isolation facilities, while 1 248 were in home isolation.

Three women, including a 72-year-old and 76-year-old, who were unvaccinated and a 77-year-old who was vaccinated, died from the virus on Tuesday.

As at June 7, there were 466 deaths related to COVID-19.

The public health laboratory has conducted 691 618 tests since February 2020, and recorded 81 800 COVID-19 cases (37 296 males and 44 504 females).

Under the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, the total number of people with at least one dose is 162 506 (71.2 per cent of the eligible population).  The total number of fully vaccinated people is 152 946 (56.4 per cent of the total population or 67 per cent of the eligible population).
