Barbados Women rout Leewards

GEORGETOWN – Captain Hayley Matthews put in a solid all-round display as Barbados brushed aside the Leeward Islands by nine wickets in their second match of the Cricket West Indies Women’s Twenty20 Blaze yesterday at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence.

Batting first, the inexperienced Leewards side were routed for 60, with Matthews and Shanika Bruce capturing three wickets each for nine and 15 runs, respectively.

In reply, Barbados raced to 61-1 in just 6.4 overs as Matthews capitalised on a couple misses, to make 23 not out. Kyshona Knight was unbeaten on 15 after replacing her twin sister, Kycia Knight, whose was the lone Barbadian wicket to fall for 12. (EZS)
