Rice sees double standard on events

There seems to be a double standard with what is expected of the staff and members of the public when events are staged during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This was the view of All Stars Calypso Tent’s Eleanor Rice during her contribution as a panellist on an online discussion on the topic Crop Over: Play Safe Mas, sponsored by the Zoom Trinity, at Chapel, St Philip, on Tuesday night.

Rice’s observation came against the background of a change in protocols which took place for the staging of the recently held Agrofest exhibition in Queens Park, The City.

“When I heard about Agrofest, they said that you would have to [be vaccinated]. But then it changed. They said you would be sanitised at the door and ‘come on in’. But I said, ‘We have entertainers going on stage and they want them to be fully vaccinated or present a rapid test and then they can be allowed to sing’. Agrofest had at least 5 000 to 6 000 people there and you were sanitised at the entrance. I said to myself this is like double standards. (JS)
