Port of Spain – West Indies reached 311 for six from their allocation of 50 overs against India in the second One-day International on Sunday at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad, after they decided to bat.

The highlight of the innings was a 13th ODI hundred for Barbados Pride wicketkeeper-batsman Shai Hope, playing in his 100th ODI. It was only his second ODI hundred in the Caribbean.

“I am filled with emotions,” Hope said in a TV interview during the interval between innings. “I am pleased to be here representing West Indies. As a child, you want to grow up and play for West Indies, and to get 100 games under my belt, and a hundred in my 100th game, means a lot to me.”

Hope, 28, became the fourth West Indies batsman to score a hundred in his 100th ODI following in the footsteps of compatriot Sir Gordon Greenidge, the self-proclaimed “Universe Boss”, Chris Gayle, and Ramnaresh Sarwan.

Summarised scores:

West Indies 311 for six off 50 overs (Shai Hope 115, Nicholas Pooran 74, Kyle Mayers 39, Shamarh Brooks 35, Romario Shepherd 15 not out, Rovman Powell 13; Shardul Thakur 3-54) vs India.
