A well balanced and highly confident Barbados Under-15 cricket team left for Grenada yesterday set on capturing the Regional Super-50 Cup.

The team, which is led by Queen’s College student Raphael Lovell, boasts a number of young talents who have won age group titles with Bayley’s Primary School and Pickwick.

Coach Rohan Nurse indicated that the group gelled rather well after intense training in the weeks leading up to selection.

“From the outset we spoke about ensuring that we execute all of our objectives throughout the tournament where the boys would continue to develop and progress as future West Indies players.

“Once we continue to hit our marks as individuals and a team we are confident of winning. The team is a pretty balanced side and the all-round ability of the players creates a level of versatility which should help greatly in the tournament.

“The fitness and versatility of the players will be key as the format has five games being contested in the space of nine days. Having missed a period of time due to COVID we are wary of all of our opponents.” (KB)
