The late Tony McDonald Leacock was described as a friendly man who was loved by his community.

The body of the 54-year-old, of Durants Village, Holder’s Hill, St James was discovered about 1:15 p.m. on Monday at Payne’s Bay Beach, St James.

Police in the Northern Division said they are treating the case as an unnatural death. The report said a water sports operator was informed there was a body of a man at the bottom of the water. The operator dived in and retrieved the body and brought it to shore and it was identified by a family member as Leacock.

He lived next door to his mother Marie Leacock, a Nation vendor.

Yesterday, she remembered her eldest child saying: “My son was cool, quiet and friendly. He worked hard, for more than 30 years, as a gardener in Bucks, St Thomas. He was a man who would help anyone, young or old,” she said, adding he had “nuff friends” in the neighbourhood. (CA)
