Weather forecasters issued a flash flood warning at noon on Wednesday for northern districts in Barbados.

According to a weather bulletin from the Barbados Meteorological Service, heavy showers and some thunderstorms are already occurring across northern sections of the island due to light south-easterly winds and daytime heating.

Forecasters indicated the flash flood warning may be updated or terminated before 6 p.m. if conditions improve.

Forecasters typically issue flash flood warnings when rapid flooding, due to heavy or excessive rainfall in a short period of time (generally less than six hours) is occurring or is imminent in the warning area.
