President of the Barbados Union of Teachers (BUT) Rudy Lovell is calling on the Ministry of Education to resolve some of the ongoing environmental issues in the nation’s schools.

Of particular concern is that at the Lawrence T. Gay Memorial Primary School, which has been happening for several years. A mysterious odour continues to affect the compound.

“What we would like is a resolution to the issue. This issue has been going on in excess of five years, and I guess teachers, both teachers and parents are frustrated. I would have visited the school sometime this term and I myself experienced the odour, along with members of my executive. So the problem is real and we would like a rectification to the problem as soon as possible.”

He was speaking at a Professional Development Workshop at Almond Bay Conference Centre on Thursday and acknowledged that the Ministry had tried, but further investigations were needed. (Nation News)
