Fire gutted an unoccupied house at Smith Road, Sargeant’s Village, Christ Church, on Tuesday morning.

Residents said the former occupant moved out of the wooden house some time ago to live at a relative, and it had become an environmental hazard.

Fire officials received the call at 10:19 a.m., and when they arrived, the structure was fully engulfed.

Two water tenders from the nearby Worthing station responded and brought the blaze under control. (SAT)
