Murder accused Shawn Phillips told the mother of Melissa Davis that he “ain’t went to” kill her daughter and he hoped God would forgive him.

This was the testimony of Bernard Harte, who took the stand in the No. 3 Supreme Court yesterday.

The lawman told the court he went to Barkers Road, Haggatt Hall, St Michael, on December 5, 2008, where he saw Davis’ decomposed body. On January 2, the following year, he went to the Glebe Police Station where he saw the accused.

Harte said he told Phillips about the murder investigation and he replied: “I ain’t know nothing ’bout no murder, so I ain’t want no lawyer.” (HLE)
