The cricket fraternity turned out in its numbers on Wednesday at the Western Light Church of the Nazarene, Oxnards, St James to say farewell to former Barbados all-rounder Neil Maynard (Phillips) who passed away suddenly one day after Christmas last year at the age of 66.

Maynard was a member of the champions Barbados Shell Shield team in which he played in all five matches under the captaincy of Carlisle Best.

The former groundsman for the University of the West Indies and Christ Church Foundation School played 15 first-class matches for Barbados between 1983 and 1985.

He scored 370 runs including one half-century (51) at an average of 17.61 and took 39 wickets at an average of 29.33 with best figures of four for 35. (KB)
