Runako Lee Omar Husbands was found guilty of manslaughter when his trial concluded in the No. 2 Supreme Court yesterday.

Husbands, of No 1 Chapel Gap, Paynes Bay, St James, had been accused of murdering Terrence “Papa T” Phillips, on August 12, 2011.

He was represented by attorneys Angella Mitchell-Gittens and Kristin Vanderpool, while Senior State Counsel Oliver Thomas and State Counsel Anastacia McMeo prosecuted.

Yesterday, the jury deliberated for just over two hours but were unable to come to a unanimous verdict on murder.

The 11-member mixed jury – one was excused – subsequently returned a 10-1 majority guilty verdict on manslaughter.

Justice Randall Worrell ordered a pre-sentencing report and adjourned the matter until May 5.

The judge then remanded Husbands to Dodds Prison pending its completion. (HLE)
