Four more schools closed early on Monday as firefighters continue to battle grass fires across the island.

Combermere School at Waterford, St Michael, was the first that had to close.

Another fire in the environs of Government Hill, sent ash and smoke onto the compounds at Springer Memorial School, Charles F. Broome Primary School and Harrison College.

They are also closed.

The Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training (METVT) says classes are expected to resume tomorrow, Tuesday, March 21, following assessments by environmental health officials.

Last Friday, six schools were closed as a result of grass and tyre fires.  (PR/SAT)
