A group of BICO mobile operators will be meeting with management on Tuesday in the hopes of ending an impasse between the two parties.

Bico has indicated it will increase the electricity fee or plug-in cost from $38 to $68 per week, but the independent contractors are adamant they will not pay the increase.

They will meet with executive chairman of BICO, Edwin Thirlwell.

“We are awaiting the meeting on Tuesday to see the outcome and then we will go from there. We had a meeting [last] Tuesday and after the meeting did not go so well, we called back the liaison officer and requested another meeting,” spokesman Terry Taitt said.

“Mr Thirlwell agreed to the meeting but said that he was not going to have it with all of us. So we have to select three or four people to attend the meeting to represent our interests. Hopefully, after Tuesday, we will be in a position to say what our next step is going to be.” Taitt said.
