Call for women’s cricket league

West Indies’ cricket captain Hayley Matthews and experienced seamer Shakera Selman are calling for greater structure and a domestic stand-alone league to develop women’s cricket greater in Barbados and throughout the region.

Matthews was speaking at the Grantley Adams International Airport where she went to welcome home the Barbados team which won the Cricket West Indies’ regional Super50 Cup and the T20 Blaze competitions.

Matthews, who led the 50-over squad was asked to rest for the T20s and Selman took over the captaincy.

She was among a group of family members, BCA’s officials like Marketing and Communications Manager, Steven Leslie, Wendell Coppin, Pedro Greaves and long supporter of women’s cricket Hartley Reid. (KB)
