Wiggins aiming for golf glory

Barbadian golfer Xzavier Wiggins has set his sights on conquering the challenging fairways and greens of the El Encanto Country Club as he tees off against 14 other competitors at this year’s Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in El Salvador.

Wiggins, a former national golf champion, was selected along with University of Texas golfer Emily Odwin to compete in the men’s and women’ golf tournaments of the Games.

While he has represented Barbados at regional tournaments in the past, Wiggins admitted some nerves ahead of the regional showpiece where the golf competition officially tees off on July 4.

“Personally, I’m nervous because it’s the first time I’m representing Barbados in this way but at the same time, I remind myself that I have been chosen,” Wiggins said to Sun Sport. (NM)
