At 6:30 a.m. Sunday, the Barbados Water Authority team completed a temporary fix of the repair being conducted on a 15-inch main at Pine North-South Road, St. Michael.

Despite all efforts to complete the repair overnight, there is still a small leak on one of the fittings.

However, based on the difficulties being experienced in correcting that and the fact that the connected reservoir and distribution system had a prolonged period without water, a decision has been taken to resume pumping so that customers could get back water through their taps at this stage.

The Authority will schedule another shutdown later in the week to address the remaining leak.

Water pressure in the distribution network supplying customers along Highway 7 from Bay Street to Oistins and surrounding areas as well as those in Bayville, Chelsea Road, Dayrells Road and surrounding districts should be expected to return to normal gradually.

The Authority’s tanker crews will continue to assist any persons still being impacted by the effects of the work.

The section of road between Pine Plantation Road and the junction with the traffic lights has been reopened.

The Authority apologises for the inconvenience and thanks its valued customers for their understanding and continued patience.    (PR/SAT)
