St.Philip man charged with murder

A St. Philip man has been remanded to Dodds Prison for murder. He is Xavier Jamar Sargeant, 22, of Marley Vale, St. Philip.

Sargeant is charged with the murder of Nicobie Lavia, 20, of Cox Hill, Church Village, St. Philip on June 19th, 2023.

He also faces the charge of unlawfully wounding Jalani Noel with intent to maim, disfigure or disable him.

In addition, he is charged with discharging a firearm while committing serious bodily harm as well as being recklessly engaged in conduct that placed Shaquon Goodridge, Samir Wilfred, Dimitri Jones and Adrian Beckles in danger of death or serious bodily harm.

He appeared before Magistrate Joy-ann Clarke at the St. Matthias Magistrates’ Court. Sargeant is scheduled to reappear in court on July 26th, 2023. (AL)
