Ellerton close title gap

The race for the Barbados Football Association Men’s Premier League title is turning into a close battle between leaders Weymouth Wales and second-placed Ellerton Club.

A convincing 3-0 victory over Abrahams United Silver Sands at the Barbados Football Association’s AstroTurf in Wildey on Tuesday night moved Ellerton to 36 points, four behind Wales with five more rounds of games left.

With captain Shakille Belle and fellow midfielder Shaquan Clarke controlling the midfield, Ellerton dominated possession, stringing together many passes and testing Silver Sands’ defence often.

However, it wasn’t until Ellerton made some crucial substitutions, especially bringing on senior national player Rashon “Speedy” Gittens, around the 81st minute that the floodgates opened. (ML)
