The small disorganised low-pressure centre to the east of the island chain has weakened into a tropical wave, says the Barbados Meteorological Services.

In addition, environmental conditions will limit any possibility of restrengthening of the system before it passes Barbados and the Lesser Antilles.

Over the next 24 to 36 hours, Barbados will be affected by two tropical waves which will bring one to two inches (25 to 50mm) in moderate to heavy showers. The possibility of thunderstorm activity and gusty winds from this afternoon into tomorrow is also a high possibility.

Heavy or violent showers could prompt the issuance of a flash flood warning for the island at short notice. (PR/SAT)
