CXC: Maths grade will add up

The Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) has assured that the modified approach to grading this year’s Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) mathematics exam will not compromise the result.

During a webinar yesterday, the regional testing body broke down the modified grading process in the absence of Paper 2 of the exam, which was the subject of a security breach two months ago.

In hopes of allaying any fears surrounding the fairness of the final grade, Director of Operations, Examination Services, Dr Nicole Manning, said the modified approach was based on tried and tested scientific methods.

She also said the method was unlikely to produce some of the grading challenges of 2020 when exams were administered in the height of COVID.  (CLM)
