Top Derby finishers back on track

The top six finishers in this year’s Derby, minus winner Social Media, return to the track tomorrow on the Barbados, Thoroughbred Breeders Association Raceday.

Hot Stepper and Matilda, who were second and third, respectively, plus fifth-place finisher Amaretta are among the leading contenders for the Gone Platinum Handicap over 1 570 metres at the Garrison Savannah.

The Rene Greendige-owned Matilda (Aaron Daniel), winner of the second Jewel of the Triple Crown, the Midsummer Creole Classic, carries the top weight of 121 pounds and will be at home in this race.

Hot Stepper (Jarelle Beckles) has returned to her best having secured second places in the second and third Jewel of the Triple Crown and at 120 pounds, she could be lethal. (LY)
