A mother and son parted ways yesterday after they faced charges relating to each other in the District “A” Traffic Court.

Tyrel Kadeem Branch, a 30-year-old vendor of Well Gap, Cave Hill, St Michael, pleaded not guilty to damaging a mirror, a door, three windows, two cameras and roof guttering belonging to Kay Best, as well as damaging two car doors, belonging to Vonnette Lee, both on September 10.

Meanwhile Kay Michelle Best, 52, a shopkeeper of Nursery Close, Eden Lodge, St Michael, denied she damaged a tyre, belonging to Tyrel Branch, on September 10.

Prosecutor Sergeant Ralph Rollock did not object to Best being released on bail and Acting Magistrate Alison Burke granted her $2 000 bail with a surety.

Best, who was represented by attorney Kendrid Sargeant, returns to court on December 11.

However, Prosecutor Rollock objected to Branch’s release on bail.

He said accused Branch was already on bail in relation to another matter involving the same complainant and that there was a protection order in place, ordering him not to interfere with the woman, who was his mother.

However, accused Branch denied there was a protection order against him.

“The protection order was dropped. The only order was not to go on the property of the house,” he told the court.

“And now we’re here,” Acting Magistrate Burke noted.

She later turned down Branch’s request for bail and remanded him to Dodds Prison until October 9. (HLE)
