A convict briefly escaped prison authorities while at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, police confirmed last night.

Sources said the prisoner, who is serving a lengthy sentence on a manslaughter offence, was in the “short stay” section of the hospital when he jumped through a window last night.

The man, in his 30s, was under the supervision of a warder from Dodds Prisons at the time of his escape attempt.

He was held on the compound of the health facility after he injured his foot when he leapt from the window. (AC)
