Yesterday was the hottest day in Barbados on record, as the temperature peaked at a sizzling 34.2 degrees Celsius.

In addition, it was the highest recorded temperature in the last 18 years, based on measurements taken at the Charnocks, Christ Church operations facility of the Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS).

Barbadians have been shielding themselves from the extremely humid conditions for almost three months.

Yesterday’s peak temperature at the Charnocks surpassed Barbados’ highest on record of 33.6 degrees Celsius which was set in October 1969 according to the BMS.

In a statement, director of the BMS, Sabu Best, revealed that the 34.2 degrees also surpassed the record of 33.1 degrees that was recorded in September 2005. (PR)
