Attorneys want a dedicated interview room at every police station for them to interact with their clients.
Martie Garnes, the convenor of the Criminal Law committee of the Barbados Bar Association (BBA) told the media yesterday that the rooms which they presently utilise at the police stations “are not sufficiently fitted for a private consultation between attorneys and their clients.”
Garnes made the comment while speaking at a press conference yesterday to address the incident earlier this year where a cell phone with duct tape attached to it fell to the floor while an attorney was consulting with a client at the District “E” Police Station.
“The rooms, in particular police stations, not only at the District “E” Police Station, but the rooms at the very end police stations across the island are not sufficiently fitted for a private consultation between attorneys and their clients,” he told the press. (MB)
