Barbados and the Cayman Islands stand to benefit from the upcoming direct flight between the two countries.

That was one of the projections made during a reception at George Town Yacht Club, Grand Cayman on Monday night.

Several Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) officials including Chairman Shelly Williams, Acting Chief Executive Officer Craig Hinds, Director for Caribbean and Latin America Corey Garrett, influencers, event promoters such as Barbadian Stefan Babb and travel agents such as Travel Pros associate Denise Birmingham, attended the reception.

“I have been travelling back and forth between Cayman and Barbados for 16 years. The layover in Miami and having to travel the whole day is highly inconvenient so having a direct flight is super convenient. It will encourage more people to travel home more often, especially because of the price because it is very affordable,” Babb said.

The new Cayman/Barbados route begins on Wednesday, October 18, and weekly flights will operate initially through November 1, 2023.  (TG)
