Share post:

Wilfred Field was just past age 21, recently married to his 18-year-old sweetheart Cheryl, beginning to get into his stride as a junior salesman at the Advocate, Barbados’ main daily newspaper, when he was invited to be part of a new newspaper venture. The year was 1973.

Fifty years later, the retired first advertising manager of the Nation looks back with satisfaction and gratification at the project on which he took a leap of faith. The Nation is 50 years old this month and we are celebrating all November.

In the short series, Nation Builders, we hear stories by people who helped bring the organisation to where it is today. Part 2 on Monday at 6:30 p.m.
