Despite not being able to advance to the playoffs of their Concacaf W Gold Cup qualifying campaign, the Barbados senior women’s footballers are focused on ending their current assignment on a high note ahead of their penultimate group game against the Dominican Republic today from 7 p. m. at the Wildey Turf.

The Lady Tridents have so far won four points from their four group games while tonight’s opponents are five points ahead in second place and will be hopeful of usurping group leaders Bermuda, who have a date at home with St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Bermuda are a single point better off than the Dominican Republic and as their head coach Naquita Robinson said last month, they are banking on the Barbadians to do them a favour tonight and allow them safe passage to the playoffs. She might get her wish as Harte urged his team to maintain their unbeaten streak at home.

“We know Dominican Republic wants to get a victory so they can go to Bermuda with a chance of topping the group, so our plan is to frustrate them as much as possible while creating chances for ourselves to score,” Harte explained to Weekend Sport. (NM)
