‘Years of waiting’ for road repairs

Frustrated residents of Vaughn’s Road in St Joseph are crying out for repairs to their eroded street, which they say is impassable to vehicular traffic and poses a danger to pedestrians.

The eroded surface of Vaughn’s Road No. 1 is the source of headaches for those who live there. The road breaks away at the bottom of the hill, and the street which leads incoming vehicles to the residential area is now a narrow and rocky pathway.

“Ridiculous” is how resident Phyllis Cumberbatch described the deterioration. She said that the lack of lighting and the mossy, slippery nature of the road continues to affect both her and neighbours’ way of life.

Speaking with the Daily Nation during a recent visit to the area, Cumberbatch said that neither sanitation trucks nor ambulances enter the area due to how dangerous the road is for travel. (JRN)
