UWI Blackbirds are the predictable double crown queens of Goddard Enterprises Limited volleyball.

On Saturday night the Blackbirds assured themselves of the league crown by flying past the defending champions Burger King Clapham Toners’ finals hopes, 25-21, 25-19, 25-15 at the Wildey Gymnasium. After claiming the knockout crown earlier this year the Blackbirds were always flying beyond the reach of the other competitors.

Taking on UWI on Saturday night without main attacker Ashley Jordan, the Toners were never going to stop UWI from winning their 12th match while themselves falling to their fifth loss.  That result was more than enough to give UWI their double title.

Then Sunday night the crowned Blackbirds moved to 13/1 and 55 unassailable points by beating Warrens Jaguars 13-25, 27-25, 25-15, 25-20.  Toners maintained the race to take the second spot by climbing over Hill Road 25-14, 25-22, 25-19. (KB)
