Barbadian sprint hurdler Hannah Connell is looking forward to having her best ever track season in 2024.

Now into a master’s programme at the University of Cincinnati, the 23-year-old national athlete is keen on balancing studies and sport in hopes of lowering her personal best of 13.07 seconds clocked in May 2021 when she won the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division One Outdoor title for Iowa Central at the Texan Track and Field Complex.

Having completed her first degree in criminology at the University of South Florida (USF), the former Christ Church Foundation School student admitted some challenges in her newest endeavour.

“My first semester was hectic. It was more challenging than I am used to, especially trying to balance it along with my track schedule. The master’s programme I am doing typically takes more than a year, and I am completing it within one year. I have to be honest, it wasn’t easy my first semester but I got through it and I am thankful,” said Connell who turns 24 on February 1. (RW)
