The Lester Vaughan School at Cane Garden, St Thomas, is closed for the remainder of the day.

This comes after a meeting this morning with teachers and Chief Education Officer, Dr Ramona Archer-Bradshaw, at the school.

The Nation understands Archer-Bradshaw is scheduled to meet with stakeholders later today to discuss the ongoing problem.

Lester Vaughan School reopened on Monday after online classes and the mid-term break. During that time, some remedial work was carried out on the plant.

Teachers have complained of falling ill and the Ministry of Education employed a company to conduct tests to determine the underlying issues.

In the meantime, it is unclear whether it will reopen tomorrow. (Nation News)

A release from the Ministry of Education said Archer-Bradshaw will meet with the principal, deputy principal and the chairman of the board of management of The Lester Vaughan School, the Barbados Union of Teachers and the Barbados Secondary Teachers Union, to discuss ongoing environmental issues that continue to present a challenge to the teaching and student body at the school.

Several teachers and a few students complained of feeling ill, thereby prompting the closure of the school for the remainder of the day. The Vaughan School will engage in online classes from tomorrow, February 28, until further notice.
