Some Melrose, St Thomas residents are saddened by the fatal stabbing of one of their own on Wednesday afternoon.

Although many in the area including the family were tight-lipped about the passing of Renario Junior Taylor, 23, others who knew the men involved in the incident said it was a tough situation.

“No parent wants to hear that your child killed somebody, especially if that somebody is also your blood. That’s a tough one,” one man said.

According to the police report, their operations control room received a report from the Barbados Ambulance Service around 2:51 p.m. on Wednesday and had responded to an altercation between two men whilst they were at Goose Bar.

The police said the men got into an “altercation” which led to a fight which resulted in one receiving a wound to his chest.

Both men were transported to the Eunice Gibson Polyclinic, Warrens, St Michael, where they received medical treatment. Taylor died while receiving medical attention.

Police said a man is in custody assisting with the investigation.

One man who did not want to be identified told Starcom Network he had known the men since they were children and expressed his sadness about the situation.

“They’re family so it’s something that should have never happened. I know them from youngsters. I can’t come to grips with it and I’m trying not to study it,” he said.
