Bill to expand number of notaries public

Government is expanding the category of notaries public that will also allow ordinary citizens to be able to join the group.

Yesterday Minister of Home Affairs Wilfred Abrahams introduced the Notaries Public Bill, 2024, in the House of Assembly.

He said that under the law, the notary public will serve the public in non-contentious matters, authenticate documents related to immigration/marriage, and other areas.

Abrahams pointed out that as Barbados traded outside its borders, the need for notaries public had grown significantly and the current regime, though expanded in 2017, still had limited public officials.
