75-year-old latest road fatality victim

Barbados has recorded its third road fatality in three days.

At about 9:15 p.m. on Monday, police from Oistins police station were summoned to the scene of a road traffic collision that occurred at Lodge Road, Christ Church.

It involved a pedestrian who was struck by a motor vehicle while he was walking along Lodge Road. The vehicle fled the scene.

The pedestrian who has been identified as Ainsley Roosevelt Bradshaw, 75, of Kings Court, Lodge Road, Christ Church, was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical doctor.

Police are appealing to the public for information pertaining to the vehicle and the driver involved.

This fatal accident follows one that occurred about 12:30 a.m on that day at Balls Road, Christ Church. A 29-year-old male died at the scene after he was ejected from a vehicle which was travelling in an easterly direction towards the airport when for some reason still under investigation it left the carriageway to its offside, struck a utility pole and a tree before it overturned in the ditch.

Another road fatality at Long Bay main road, St Philip in the early hours of Saturday. At the time police said that it appeared as though a 56-year-old man was struck by a motor vehicle. The vehicle involved which is unknown did not stop at the scene.
