PM’s cruise call

Cruise tourism, on which some Caribbean countries depend, must be shaped by those countries, says Prime Minister Mia Mottley as she called yesterday for African and Caribbean investors.

โ€œThere is an amazing opportunity in cruise tourism that remains untapped. Not to be shaped and directed by others, but to be shaped and directed by ourselves,โ€ she said, while calling on investors in the region and Africa to consider the move into cruise tourism.

Mottley said the time had come for investors in the Caribbean and Africa to work together to pursue initially the leasing of a cruise ship, the chartering of it and focusing directly on the things that regional people like to do. (AC)
