As Hurricane Beryl continues its journey across the Windward Islands, several areas in Tobago are experiencing significant power outages.
Reports indicate that around 8 am today, multiple locations lost electricity, including Bethel, Mt Irvine, Roxborough, Charlotteville, Mt Grace, Moriah, Scarborough, Black Rock, Mason Hall, Calder Hall, Argyle, Les Coteaux, Bloody Bay, Idle Wile, and Castara.
Compounding the situation, a fallen tree along Plymouth Road has not only blocked access but also brought down power lines in the vicinity. Similarly, at Turpin’s Bend in Charlotteville, another downed tree has caused further disruptions.
Officials from the Tobago Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) have been alerted to these incidents and are working to restore normalcy. In the meantime, motorists are advised to seek alternative routes to avoid these obstructions.
The impact of Hurricane Beryl is being felt across the region, with Tobago facing challenges akin to those in Barbados, where several areas are also grappling with power outages. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as recovery efforts are underway.
