Karen Meakins is now a two-time World Squash Federation World Masters Over-50 women’s champion.

Pulling off yet another impressive career straight-sets win, Meakins won gold in the best-of-five sets final 12-10, 14-12 and 11-3 over Linda Shannon of South Africa in a highly competitive match played yesterday in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

“The first two games were really tight but I was really happy to get the second set because she had a game ball or two. So, it was really a relief to be 2-0 up in the second set instead of the match being one all.

“It feels amazing. This is probably the most prepared I have ever been for a tournament. I worked really hard this year and it was just amazing to retain the title and do it without dropping a game. That was way beyond my expectation. (ML)
