The injuries Albert John received when he was assaulted earlier this month were non-life-threatening, says Commissioner of Police Richard Boyce.
Boyce said the 62-year-old homeless man’s cause of death was related to his swollen scrotum which constricted the blood vessels and “then brought on sepsis and other conditions”.
He gave that update during a media briefing at Police Headquarters, corner of Palmetto Street and Lower Roebuck Street, St Michael, this morning.
His comments came after several people, including president of the Barbados Alliance to End Homelessness Kemar Saffrey and John’s son Shawn Francis, who lives in Austria, joined the chorus of voices calling for a re-examination of John’s case.
Boyce said the situation began on November 2, when, John’s great nephew, was missing a bag of money.
