Teenager fatally shot while watching netball game

A 13-year-old boy was shot and killed on Tuesday night while watching a netball game at the Silver Hill hardcourt.

According to reports from the Barbados Police Service, officers from the Oistins Police Station responded to a call at 7:48 p.m. regarding gunfire in the area. Investigations revealed that during a netball match, two armed assailants emerged from behind nearby housing units and opened fire toward the hardcourt.

The teenager, who was an innocent bystander, sustained gunshot wounds to the abdomen and chest. He was transported by private vehicle to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.

Investigations are ongoing.
